Australia's wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy will miss the T20I series against Pakistan due to a calf injury, which she sustained during Australia's tour of India.
Healy, who filled in for Meg Lanning as captain of Australia during her country's tour of India, will stay with the group throughout the series as she continues her recovery.
According to a statement from Cricket Australia, despite missing the three T20 matches, Healy is anticipated to be available for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup in February. The wicketkeeper-batter will fly to South Africa for the mega tournament without having played any matches beforehand.
Healy's absence at the top of Australia's batting order makes room for Lanning, who is playing cricket again after a four-month break, alongside Beth Mooney.
In Healy's absence, Mooney, who is also Australia's backup wicketkeeper, will wear the gloves.
Prior to the start of the T20Is in Sydney on January 24, Australia will play three one-day internationals (ODIs) against Pakistan, beginning in Brisbane on January 16.
The three ODIs will be played on 16, 18, and 21 January, while the three T20Is will be held on 24, 26, and 29 January.
After the white-ball series against Australia, the Pakistan squad will leave for South Africa from Melbourne to feature in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.
